Arts Beat for April

8 March 2016

The curtain may have just gone down on one of our most successful musical productions, The Addams Family, which appealed to all ages, performed in the T. Gil Bunch Centre, but it will soon rise again on a host of other performance events on our stage and off campus. As with a number of sports, the third term is our competitive season: in April the dancers and musicians will test their mettle in Nanaimo, Vancouver, Richmond, and Victoria in festival after festival. Capping this will be the Dogwoods, held this year at Brentwood on April 27th. Student artists, dancers, musicians, performers, sports and school leaders from Independent Schools on Vancouver Island will compete for provincial scholarship in their respective disciplines. Our very successful Model UN students will take part in the Shawnigan MUN Conference, testing their skills against teams from a number of schools. During our International Brentwood Regatta, the visual artists will delight you with a show themed “Circus” in the Centre for Visual Arts and Humanities. Take time from the races to enjoy the various takes in many media on this idea of performance. While this is all going on, the senior acting class, dancers and musicians have been putting the final touches on their Showcases for the Killy Stage in the T. Gil Bunch. Please visit our on-line ticketing site: for information and reserved seating for The Servant of two Masters, a modern spin on Commedia dell’arte comedy, staged by our senior acting company April 20-23; An Evening of Dance, Friday, May 13; and Concert for a Summer’s Eve, June 9 and 10.
