A New Dawn In Brentwood’s Learning Bond
On the morning of October 4th, on a fabulous Friday, approximately 100 guests gathered to watch the long-anticipated ribbon-cutting ceremony of Brentwood College School’s new building, The Centre for Innnovation and Learning (CIL). Attendees included members of Brentwood’s Board of Governors, generous donors, students, faculty, and family. The new facility symbolizes a transformative chapter in the legacy of Brentwood’s 101st year.
The new building features a diverse range of facilities including math, science, and social studies classrooms, Admissions, Reception, University Counselling, the Library and Learning Commons, collaborative workspaces, and scenic oceanfront study areas.
The opportunity to study in these state-of-the-art classrooms is truly one-of-a-kind. Head Prefect, Matson W, Privett ‘25, expressed his optimism regarding the new building: “Students on campus saw the building rise from the ground last year, but to see the finished poduct is truly something else. The outstanding science lab in the Centre for Innovation & Learning has facilitated many enhanced experiences in the various STEM courses offered at Brentwood. I am super excited to use such great facilities as the year goes on.” Matson’s words underscore the incredible opportunities that these advanced facilities will provide, setting the stage for a dynamic and engaging learning atmosphere that will elevate the educational journey for all students.
On top of the academic pursuits, the Centre for Innovation & Learning proudly houses the Anthony C. Carr Boathouse, making it a lively hub for both learning and rowing opportunities. The Brentwood rowing community has been eagerly awaiting the opening of the new boathouse, which now offers a vibrant space for 115 Brentwood student-athletes. Head of Rowing and three-time Olympian, Mr David Calder says, “Just steps from student dorms, classrooms, and Crooks Hall, the new Anthony C. Carr Boathouse is ideally placed as the foundation of the Centre for Innovation and Learning. With enhanced spaces for team gathering and equipment care, the new boathouse, perched on the shores of Mill Bay, allows for quick and easy access to training. I feel so fortunate to have this beautiful, well-laid-out building as the home of the Brentwood Rowing Program.” Mr Calder’s enthusiasm reflects the profound impact that the Carr Boathouse will have on the rowing program, enhancing team performance by providing athletes with a state-of-the-art facility.
The Centre for Innovation & Learning elevates Brentwood to new heights and establishes the school as a leader in educational excellence and innovation. By embracing cutting-edge technology and fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration, Brentwood creates an unparalleled environment for student growth and discovery.
