Alex House Dino Report
When I look back on this year in Alexandra House, I don’t just think of the events – I think of the feeling. It started in September, when new personalities became a part of the Dino Fam, some nervous, some excited, all stepping into something unknown. And without even thinking about it, Alex did what it does best: we opened up and made sure that every new face was part of the family.
One of my favourite memories will always be the energy we bring to interhouse events. It’s not just about showing up; it’s about showing what Alex is. Whether we were on the court or field, throwing ourselves into games that many had never played before, or losing our voices cheering each other on, you could always feel the house pride. We weren’t just competing; we were taking part in what it means to be part of the Brentwood community.
The unity of Alex House was really summed up the night of our open house, the karaoke room lit up with some pretty unforgettable performances (definitely some future winners of The Voice), and it wouldn’t have been possible if it weren't for the whole house coming together to create such an awesome evening. A huge thank you to all 22 Prefects, who stepped up not just that night but throughout the year, taking on responsibilities and staying organized, even when no one was watching.
Of course, none of these memories would have been possible without the endless support of our Houseparents, Ms Warner and Ms Langer, and the many duty staff. Thank you for always believing in us throughout our journeys; none of the Grads would be where they are today if it weren't for you guys. Thank you for all the little things you did every day that made Alex feel like home. And to the new staff this year, thank you for jumping in so quickly and becoming a part of our family.
Alex has been my second home since Grade 10; the experiences I have had here will forever be a part of me. Thank you for everything, Alexandra.
