Alexandra House 1
September brought over 20 new faces to the quiet halls of Alexandra. They were welcomed with anticipation by our new Houseparent Mrs Warner, Assistant Houseparent Ms Hall, and our RFA Ms Davis. The returning girls welcomed these new members with open arms and quickly helped them adapt to the busy Brentwood life and sisterhood that is Alex House. Orientation brought a hectic week filled with exciting interhouse competitions, house bonding, and new friendships that turned strangers into sisters. We competed tenaciously at our first interhouse event of the year, Fun & Games, which ended with sundaes and a dance party in the common room of our brother house, Whittall. As the year progressed, the girls took part in many of our Alex traditions. The Grade 12s cooked in-house breakfasts, hosted Big Little Sisters, Dino Fams and the house came together to celebrate our Open House in February which brought the house down, literally, when we broke our common room floor while dancing!
We celebrated many birthdays, interhouse wins, and nights when the Grade 9s got to bed on time. We forged on through uncertain times during the pandemic and remained a tight-knit family through virtual house meetings, Big Littles, and group chats where we shared recipes, podcasts and more. We owe so much of our fantastic year to the hard-working duty staff who made it all possible. We were so lucky to have Mr Warner, Ms MacInnis, Ms Mais, & Ms Richardson in our house this year, always providing encouragement and love when we needed it most.
Thank you to Ms Hall for your unwavering love for Alex House and for being a best friend, life coach and die-hard Alex fan. Thank you also to Mrs Warner for balancing your family and the Alex House family while being our fearless leader and our rock throughout the year.
Alex House, you have given me unforgettable memories & life-long friendships. Thank you for giving me a home away from home for the past three years.
