ATHLETICS: Feb/March 2026
Hello Brentwood sports fans.
Well, the third and final term of sport has started. The sun is shining, and our competitive teams are already getting into full swing with Rowing, Rugby, Tennis, Girls Soccer, and Golf being featured. Most teams will start competing after the spring break, but some are already jumping into local league play, and our rowers will be holding their annual training camp during the break. Since we last wrote, our Junior and Senior Boys Basketball teams finished up their competitive seasons, and both teams impressed.
The Junior Boys Basketball team, after winning our second-ever Island Championship, went on to Provincials, where they won their first two games to earn them a berth in the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, they came up short in the quarters but rallied and won their final game to finish 7th in the 32-team provincial tournament. Given that there is no tiering at junior and our small 2A school has to compete with the big 3A and 4A schools, this is a remarkable accomplishment and the second-best finish ever in our school history. It was truly a remarkable season for our Brentwood Junior Boys.
The Senior Boys also had a great finish to the year. Due to its success at the 2A level, the Senior Boys were bumped up to 3A for this competitive season, but that didn't stop them from qualifying for the Provincial Championship. At the 3A Provincials, the team played its best basketball of the year, going 3-1 for the week, beating some of the top teams in the province and finishing 5th overall. The coaching staff was extremely proud of this group and the way they competed down the stretch.
A big congrats to all our Term 2 competitive athletes.
Next up is our busiest competitive season of the year, and we will be sure to get you up to date when we report back in April.
