Since the sun rose on the first day of Arts in Term One, Theatre Production students have been hard at work preparing for Thanksgiving Diners, the Grade 8 Musical: Honk, Concert of a Winter’s Eve, Java Hut, and more!

Significantly, the Theatre Pro team has a big production which opened last night: Mean Girls The Musical. After this big show, the team will move on to Regatta, the Evening of Dance, The Concert for a Summer’s Eve, and even more events around campus!

At the beginning of the year, Theatre Pro students sign up for practicums which are shows that this art is responsible for producing. Practicums can range from one-night commitments to nearly week-long shows with months of long practices. Rose P, Mack ‘25, new to Theatre Pro this year, comments: “I decided to join this art because a lot of my friends really enjoyed it last year. I’ve had a great time collaborating with my classmates to produce something we can all be proud of!”

After the departure of Ms Plough, who had valiantly led the theatre production team for four years like Odysseus steering his crew through uncharted waters, Ms Britton-Fosters has come aboard to lead this incredible team. With Ms Britton-Foster's help, Theatre Production put on an incredible Thanksgiving Dinner and an unforgettable Concert for a Winter’s Eve with never-before-seen props and set design.

However, Theatre Pro isn’t taking their foot off the gas just yet because a massive show is in the house right now: Mean Girl’s The Musical. In this show, 18 students operate mics, control lights, and manage props to ensure a smooth and well-produced experience for the audience. Hard at work has been the theatre production team, rehearsing from 7 to 10 pm recently and working Sundays for the last month. Myra L, Mack ‘25 comments, “It’s a large time commitment but it is so worth it because our work is going to help make this show great!”

Ms Staples who is choreographing every dance number for the musical, remarks, “The show would not be possible without the amazing crew. I have nothing but positive things to say about them!”

Truly, I speak for all of Brentwood when I say we are in awe of the work Theatre Production does and the results of their efforts for the upcoming musical we can’t wait to see this week.
