To kick off the November midterm break, Brentwood’s First 11 Field Hockey team went to Victoria to compete in the BC AA Provincial Field Hockey Tournament. The team began the tournament battling hard against top teams such as reigning champs from last year, Sea Cove, and other tough teams such as York House. Despite a challenging start, the team displayed remarkable resilience, culminating in three impressive wins as the tournament progressed. In the end, the team finished 9th, marking a strong finish to a season of growth and determination.

Co-Captain Maren S, Alexandra ‘25 was thrilled with the teams’ development over the course of the season: “I am happy with how much the team has grown both on the field and off the field.”  The team’s camaraderie and hard work were on full display as they bounced back after some tough matches, claiming victories over JL Crowe and Southridge.

One of the most memorable moments of the tournament came in their final game against South Okanagan, a thrilling match that saw the team clinch a solid 2-0 win. For Sophie M, Allard ‘25 the tournament marked a significant milestone: “This was the best we ever played together. We’ve really connected the dots as a team.”

Co-Captain Siera E, Mackenzie ‘25 echoed her teammates’ sentiments, saying, “Even though we did not get the results we wanted, we had an amazing time together and I am so happy about how the season ended!”

Throughout the tournament Coach Rachel Reynolds’ motto, “Stay alert. Stay alive” was a reminder to the team to keep their heads in the game - and maybe avoid getting hit by a high ball.

As the tournament came to a close, the team not only celebrated their growth on the field but took a moment to say goodbye to their five seniors. With the season officially concluded, the First 11 Field Hockey team ended on a high note, showcasing their strength, resilience, and team spirit both on and off the field.
