O Captain, My Captains
When it comes to leadership, it appears that British women’s rugby is turning to recent Brentwood graduates. Both Rona Mitchell ’09 and Mie Maxwell-Smith ‘09, members of the school’s First XV when they captured the BC provincial AA championship in 2009, have been elected captains of their university sides.
Rona will serve as Captain of the Oxford University Women’s Rugby team for the 2011-2012 season. A five year product of Brentwood’s girl’s rugby programme, Rona is currently studying engineering at St. Hugh’s College, Oxford. Rona has played #8 and inside centre for the Blues in her first two seasons.
Mie, studying medicine in Scotland, will serve as Captain of the St. Andrews University side for the 2011-2012 season. Also studying and playing at St. Andrews are Alison Ukrainec ’08, Becca Holland ’08.
