Regatta Food Reviews

26 April 2014
Karli S, Hope ‘14
Entrepreneurship 11 is a course offered at Brentwood and for the Brentwood International Regatta each group must construct their own business and prepare not only the food but the booth and advertisements and everything else that goes along with it. There are ten booths set up this year and each varies. Below are reviews of the food served at five of them: Brentwood Bay Café – This morning I tried a cup of their dark roast coffee and I will definitely be going back tomorrow morning for another. Duncan H, Ellis ‘14 was very friendly as he took my order and Shannon O, Allard ‘15 and Evan S, Whittall were both very efficient as they fetched my coffee.  La Poutine - Poutine is a very typical Canadian delicacy and a great option in this cool weather. Hot gravy is poured over freshly made fries and cheese curds – also known as heaven in a cardboard container. I was very impressed with the poutine: ten out of ten. Mama’s Empanadas - This meal attracts many of our Mexican students, as well as the rest of us who may or may not have ever tried anything like these before now. Brynn A, Hope ‘15 tried them today for lunch and she said they were very on point and not too filling. They also offer slushees, which are very sweet but quite tasty.  Beaver Tails - Not heading to Mount Washington, Whistler this weekend? Then please, come on down to the Brentwood Regatta to try one of the beaver tails. There are a variety of different toppings to choose from, including nutella and icing sugar (which I had) and they are well worth it. The sweetness along with the soft, hot dough allows it to melt in your mouth and is quite savoury. Kyoto Rice Bowl - Charlie M, Whittall and Skylar R, Privett ‘15 served Morgan D, Alex and I last night, as we ordered our rice bowl. Beef, broccoli, and carrots were served over a bed of white rice, with a hint of sauce. The meal was served in a small, white take-out box, which allowed it to look very legitimate – impressive.  Enjoy your snacks everyone: they can be found on the plaza! Karli S, Hope ‘14
