Rogers House 24-25
What Rogers may lack in interhouse wins and timely inspections, we more than make up for with undying house spirit and absolute commitment to supporting one another. During the ‘24-’25 school year, Rogers boys exemplified all the best aspects of pirate brotherhood that maintain the house as a welcoming and driven community.
While the entire house shared a devotion to integrity and leadership, we achieved these Snowian principles in varied ways. While talented performers like Roan Cameron and Mr Nikolic designed and presented unforgettable works of music and theatre, Alex Sochor (galley manager), Anderson Webb (open house video editor) & others put in meaningful work behind the scenes to keep the house running. Regardless of the nature of their contribution, the dedication and excellence displayed by these standouts were celebrated throughout the year, through applause or personal recognition.
For us 12s, graduating from Rogers is bittersweet. On one hand, there are countless Rogers traditions we hold dear and will miss as we go our separate ways: garage band with Mr Snow, screaming happy birthday, and Ms Whitney’s 7am wake-ups. The thought of leaving it all behind feels scary, but in another sense, we should all feel proud. Our Prefect group has been the most cohesive and effective I have seen in my time at the school, so we should feel complete confidence in the legacy we leave future Grad classes.
It would be easy to attribute Rogers’ success this year to its great members at present; I could write endlessly on acts of kindness I witness on a daily basis in the house, but that would be to ignore something more innate. Rogers isn’t great because we win competitions or create a loud presence. It is great because our members foster a culture and experience that preserves worthwhile values in a way that transcends any single year. It is for this unseen structure that I am so grateful to have been part of the best house at Brentwood.
