Senior Girls’ Island Hopes
This past weekend the Senior Girls Basketball team competed in the Islands at Lambrick Park in Victoria. They kicked off the tournament facing Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS), which held immensely high stakes as it dictated whether the team would qualify for provincials.
Through blood, sweat, toil and tears - and a game of incredible defense - the girls eventually came out on top 33-26, taking home the glory of qualifying for Provincials.
The following day, we played Lambrick, ranked #1 in Victoria, fighting for first place in the tournament. The first quarter was tough as the team suffered shot after shot from Lambrick. However, after an inspirational pep talk from their coach, and some tactical adjustments, the team brought the heat back up and started giving Lambrick a game they were not expecting.
Fabulous teamwork and incessant determination were exhibited, but eventually, Lambrick took home the win 57-77. Through grit and joy, the team worked exceptionally well together and never stopped fighting.
At 6:30 pm tonight in the Foote the team will play the Qualicum Condors in a challenge game to see who qualifies for Provies.
See you there!
