Spring Break 2014

24 March 2014

On the evening of March 7th and morning of March 8th Brentwood students began their journeys home for spring vacation. With second term coming quickly to an end, the whole Brentwood community was looking forward to a long, and well-deserved holiday. Spring Break is a time filled with adventure and travel, and with students living and travelling to so many fascinating places, there’s always an interesting and action-packed story to share.  Students like Rebecca D, were skiing and snowboarding in Whistler with her family, while Tristyn H , Emily C & Lucy D were in Maui, Hawaii enjoying the warm weather and beautiful beaches, and Scott W and Matt G toured Santa Monica Pier rode the Ferris wheel and took in the stunning view. These are just a few of the places Brentwood students are spending their vacations, not to mention the school service trip to Peru.  The Peru trip is something particularly exciting that students and teachers have been looking forward to. The excursion allows students to go beyond seeing the typical tourist destinations as they work with the Canadian charity, Mosqoy, to support its programs in the Andean mountains of Peru. This once-in-a-lifetime school trip combines sightseeing with off-the-beaten-track adventuring and a service-learning project. Since September, those signed up for the trip have held weekly meetings that include planning, preparation, and research about this exciting country. Mosqoy is “excited to welcome Brentwood College School students as volunteers who will help us move to our new Casa Mosqoy, and set up a home environment that is inspiring, community-oriented, and functional.” With so many places of the world being touched by Brentwood students and staff alike, I can’t wait to return and hear all about the adventures and memories made over Spring Break 2014. What a great way to wrap up term two and start off term three! Maddie M, Allard ‘15
