Denim for Children
On Thursday, April 28th, Brentwood students showed their support for BC kids by wearing jeans to school. It was an easy and fun way to show support for our BC Children's Hospital. It can be a great way to take a comfortable break from daily routine especially if your school has a dress code. "I enjoyed getting out of our uniform for a good cause" said Olamide O, Privett ‘16. Students had to donate $5 to able to wear jeans and $6 to wear a jersey instead of a school shirt.
The BC Children's Hospital is a leader in all pediatric services and a teaching and research facility in children's health in our province. The BC Children's Hospital Foundation does lots of fundraising and hosts opportunities for you to donate and get involved. They have one simple goal in mind: to improve the health and the lives of the young people who are cared for by the BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver every day.
Some of the children of our faculty members also receive aid from the BC Children's Hospital. "My son, Kirk, is alive today and will continue to live a full, healthy life because of the BC Children’s Hospital. At 10 days old our son was diagnosed with a rare medical disorder called MCADD. This disorder was also referred to as pseudoSIDS as it killed babies early on. They go from sick children to walking miracles due to the treatment available through the BC Children’s Hospital" said Mrs. Handley, our Assistant Librarian and wife of Mr. Neufeld, Privett Houseparent.
You can also donate by accessing the BC Children’s Hospital Website: http://www.bcchildrens.ca/ Thanks to all who participated.
