Howard Represents Brentwood's Rowing Club at the 2010 Henley Royal Regatta
Malcolm Howard, Class of 2001, is representing the Brentwood College Rowing Club at the 2010 Henley Royal Regatta in the Diamond Challenge Sculls. Athletes on national teams cannot represent their countries, so Malcolm is going to represent his old high school. This is a great honor for the school. Howard is a 2008 Olympic gold medalist in the men's eight and he has just recently competed in the World Cup Regatta in Munich, where he finished sixth overall in the men's single sculls.
At Henley, Howard took command of his Diamond Challenge Cup race against the University of Hertfordshire's Dave Bell, winning in a time of eight minutes and 42 seconds to advance. Howard also won his men's single race, which was another highlight for our alumni. This event started in June 20 and runs until July 4th. While Howard is busy competing for the National Rowing team at Henley, back at Brentwood we are preparing for the Junior National team to train on our own waters. With approval from Rowing Canada, the Junior National team will be training at Brentwood College from the afternoon of July 12th through to Thursday afternoon, July 15th. This is very exciting opportunity and we are happy to welcome these athletes to our campus!
