On a cold and rainy October day last Thursday, the Senior Boys Soccer team played against their rivals from Shawnigan Lake School. After our first meeting at an early-season tournament ended with a Brentwood win on penalties, it was sure to be a good game.  Though the rain was falling and wind was blowing, a sea of fans cheered Brentwood on from all corners of the field. Only two minutes into the game Bruno C blasted a shot into the corner of the goal to provide a 1-0 lead for Brentwood.  42 minutes later Nick M netted the second goal of the match just before the whistle blew for halftime, giving a scoreline of 2-0 for Brentwood. A strong second half led by a second goal by Bruno as well as a top corner screamer scored by Tyler D.  Strong goalkeeping by Travis R, some creative play by our midfield, and the cheering voices of the fans allowed for a 4-0 shutout and a successful Showcase event.  On Tuesday, just a week later, our turkey-stuffed team played Shawnigan once again, this time on their turf. After a slow start to the game, the scoreline was 1-0 for us at the half. Coach Barrett energized the team at halftime and we came out much more polished in the second half. Two more goals for Brentwood and a penalty shot conversion by Shawnigan led to  3-1 Brentwood scoreline after 90 minutes of play.  The team hopes to continue the success in the upcoming league games and maintain our first place position on the Mid Island table.
