Tony Carr is 80!
Legendary Brentwood rowing coach Tony Carr turns 80 today. Tony was the Head of Rowing at Brentwood from 1964 to 2003.
On Saturday afternoon he was right back where he belongs, on the waters of Mill Bay guest coaching the next generation of rowers to fill the school, university, and national team programs.
Tony’s rowing resume includes 50+ National Champion crews, 21 Olympians, and over 100 athletes who have represented Canada, the United States, Great Britain and Germany in international competition. He was also a World Champion coach at the Junior and Under 23 levels. More than 200 of his athletes went on to row at university after leaving Brentwood. They all have their own individual story of what Tony Carr meant to them.
With former athletes now coaching all over the world, his legacy continues to flourish.
To the Admiral - Happy 80th Birthday!
Any mention of Tony’s accomplishments must include acknowledgment of his wife of more than 50 years, Yvonne Carr, who has been right there with Tony every step of the way. We love you mom!
