Volleyball Books Trip to Provincials

21 November 2012
This past weekend the Senior Girls Volleyball team competed in the Island Championships held at Saint Michaels University School. The girls went in with a goal of placing in the top two as eight teams compete at Islands while only 2 move on to the provincial championships. The third place team competes in a wild card game in hopes of also moving on.

John Barsby was Brentwood’s first bout of competition; they proved to be no match for our girls as we took the match 2-0. Brentwood then went on to also defeat St. Margret’s, 2-0. The girls’ third match was against Lambrick Park, a massive Brentwood rival, for first place in their pool.

Lambrick ended up on top winning 25-22, 25-23.  Brentwood then went on to the quarter finals and beat out GISS 25-20 and 25-14.  Our quarterfinal match for a spot at provincials was against Cedar. Though Cedar took set one quite handily 25-18, the Brentwood girls fought back and ended up winning the next three to take the best of five match 25-12, 25-16, and 26-24. This felt particularly satisfying as Cedar had beat us at North Islands.

Brentwood fell short against Lambrick Park once again in the finals, but took home the silver medal and are ramped up for provincials which commence on November 28th.

Karlien LR and Kendra S were both named tournament all starts; well-done girls! A massive congratulations to all the girls, everyone played great!
