Financial Assistance

We believe in the importance of your child’s future, and do not want potential students who would thrive at Brentwood to feel held back by financial circumstances. Financial aid is a possibility for prospective families that cannot afford the full cost of an education at Brentwood.

Financial Assistance Application Process

Brentwood College School participates in the Financial Assistance for Canadian Students (FACS) program, operated by Apple Financial Services. We recommend reviewing the Apple Financial FAQ and Instructions - Before Applying before starting the online application. Please note that it can take up to two weeks for Apple Financial Services to receive and process your application. New students should submit their application for financial assistance when they submit their application to the School.

  • File one application per household regardless of the number of students, unless you are separated or divorced (see section 22 on page 3 of the FACS form)

  • Brentwood College School (not Apple Financial Services) will notify you of the award decision by mail when all the applications have been processed

  • Apple Financial Services only recommends the amount of the tuition adjustment awarded. The Brentwood Financial Assistance Committee makes the final decision

Frequently Asked Questions

Our goal is to make the financial aid application process as transparent and accessible as possible. While our financial aid budget is limited, we are committed to using our resources to ensure that as many qualified students as possible have access to the education they deserve. Each year, Brentwood provides financial assistance to nearly a quarter of our student body.

75p

Are international students eligible to receive financial aid?

Yes. Like all students, international applicants must fill out the Apple Financial application referenced above.

75p

If it’s determined that our family has qualified, will I receive financial assistance with my tuition payments?

We seek to meet each family’s demonstrated need as closely as we can. Our goal is to stretch our dollars to meet the financial needs of as many applicants as possible and we will communicate financial assistance decisions promptly via email.

75p

Who is responsible for completing the financial aid application in the case of divorced or separated parents?

In cases of divorce or separation, Brentwood College School requires information from both parents and any stepparents. Each parent must complete and submit a financial aid application, as the family’s ability to contribute is based on both parents’ and any stepparents’ financial information. Please contact us to discuss your particular circumstances if you feel they are extenuating.

75p

Is a business tax return required from parents who own their own business(es)?

Yes. Parents will need to provide their business tax return, if applicable, as well as their personal tax return.

75p

When will we be notified if we have received a financial aid award from Brentwood?

Parents of prospective students will be notified of any award decision when Apple Financial Services (AFS) sends their recommendation to our committee. Parents will be notified once our committee has reviewed that AFS recommendation and has made a decision.

Parents of returning students:

The amount families can reasonably afford to contribute toward meeting the cost of a Brentwood education is reviewed annually. Your contribution may increase, decrease, or remain the same depending on the change in your financial circumstances from year to year. We make our awards based on the most currently-available tax information. This is why we require you to reapply for financial aid each year.

Payment Methods

Bank Draft or Personal Cheque: Cheques and drafts should be made payable to ‘Brentwood College School’. Payments received in US funds will be exchanged to Canadian funds using the rate on the date your payment is deposited.

Withdrawal Policy

Withdrawal By Family

When a family makes the decision to withdraw their son or daughter, 50% of the remainder of the academic year’s tuition will be refunded. The date used to calculate the refund will be the date the School receives official notice from the parent that they are withdrawing their child. If the official notice of withdrawal is accompanied by a note from a legally qualified physician, Brentwood—at its discretion—may consider refunding additional portions of the remainder of the academic year’s tuition.

Dismissal By Brentwood

In the event that the School makes the decision to dismiss a student during the year, 50% of the remainder of the academic year’s tuition may, at the School’s discretion, be refunded. The date used to calculate the refund will be the date the School gives notice to the family of the decision to dismiss the student.

Withdrawal Due To Travel Restriction

The Canadian Federal Government requires students who are not Canadian to obtain a study permit while studying in Canada. If an application for a study permit is not approved, or a student is not able to travel due to a Government travel restriction and the family notifies the School prior to August 1 of that academic year, the full tuition and registration fee for that year will be refunded in full.
