Ecuadorian Amazon Trip (Spring Break 2026)

Tiputini Biodiversity Station, Ecuador (CAD ~$6,000 Quad Occupancy)

In March, 10-12 students will be travelling to the most biodiverse forest in the world—the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest.

We will spend one day exploring Quito before traveling to a remote section of the Amazon rainforest situated in Yasuní National Park. Students will explore the rainforest for primates, big cats, mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and insects. This trip offers students a fully immersive trip into nature to gain an understanding of why it should be valued, protected, and maintained.

Itinerary

13 March: Depart Vancouver Island. Arrive early AM. Hotel in Quito

14 March: Explore Quito. Hotel in Quito

15 March: Travel to Coca. Explore Coca. Hotel in Coca

16 March: Complete travel to Tiputini Biodiversity Station and orientation

17 March: Hikes and a visit to Canopy Tower

18 March: River float and canoe at Oxbow Lake

19-22 March: Thematic hikes, mineral lick exploration, guest lectures, blackwater stream visit, night observations, camera trap project, primatology, river turtle project

23 March – Travel to Coca. Hotel in Coca

24 March – Travel back to Quito

25 or 26 or 27 March – Return travel to Vancouver Island
