New York Model UN Trip: Spring Break 2024
Over spring break, students have the chance to join an eight-day trip to New York City for the National High School Model United Nations tournament. Model United Nations is a simulated learning experience, in which students step into the role of world leaders and work to solve some of the most pressing global issues facing our world today.
This trip will give students the opportunity to think about a career in international affairs through interaction with people employed in Foreign Affairs, international organizations, and NGOs.
Update October 8, 2023: Permission forms were sent to all interested students. At this moment, the trip has reached its cap from those initially signed up. A waitlist has been made. If interested in joining that list, please contact Ms. Legassicke.
Update September 18, 2023: Our delegation’s application has just been accepted, so trip planning will happen in the next few days to finalize the budget. Information and sign-ups will be heading out to parents and students as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

4 Days at the World’s Biggest Competition!
First and foremost, NHSMUN is the world’s biggest Model United Nations Competition. We will be participating in a four-day conference, where students have the chance to win awards for their work.
Students will prepare for the competition in the months beforehand by:

We suggest that students joining this trip take Public Speaking & Model UN as an arts course next year, to give them adequate time to prepare.

Mission Briefings
A unique experience tied to NHSMUN is the Mission Briefings. Students will meet with the diplomatic team and UN representatives of our assigned stakeholders. These embassy visits are incredibly unique experiences in which students will have the opportunity to learn about their stakeholder’s policies and procedures firsthand, ask questions and engage in discussions with those working in the diplomatic field.
