A Brentwood Sunday
Sundays: the day all Brentwood students cherish. Sleep-in, relaxation, and most importantly, Sunday Brunch. The morning dew sits on the field as the sun starts to rise and reflect off the ocean. Soon, the campus starts buzzing with students beginning their day. It begins similar to any other day. The routine shower, get dressed, and then head for the exciting stroll towards brunch. Brunch is the highlight for the end of the week, mostly because there are numerous hot and cold items to choose from, and since summer is almost here, the food can be enjoyed outside on the balcony. After brunch, students head back to their houses, and plop onto the couches from overeating; it’s an addiction, really. After twenty-five minutes or so, the outdoors is swarmed by people. Everyone walks towards the Gillespie Field to play frisbee, soccer, rugby, and just spend time with friends. There is even a Sunday tradition called “Soccer Sunday”, in which a group of boys and girls get together on the lower field and play a game of soccer. Organized by the one and only Breno C, Whittall ‘16, it is a sought after activity loved by all. All these activities last hours. Then, there is the bell that every junior despises. It’s the 3 o'clock sign in. 9s and 10s make their way down to Crooks Hall to sign in. There are snacks to keep our morale up as well. After the short break, back onto the field we go, having as much fun as possible before quandering about Monday’s homework list. The day’s activities are discussed over dinner, and then students head towards their houses. Preparations for Monday are begun, and the warmth and coziness of the houses are embraced by all. Whether it’s taking part in the activities held on the field, working out in the weight room, or just relaxing, a great Sunday is had by all. Jamal H, Whittall ‘18 & Yakob E, Whittall ‘18
