BC Bike To Work Week

BC Bike To Work Week

15 June 2016Gina B, Mackenzie ‘17

As a faculty member, getting to school may be part of the same old routine every day. But last week, a few Brentwood teachers decided to switch it up a bit, shifting from four wheels to two as part of bike to work week. Four wheels good; two wheels better! Mr. Collis, Mrs. Reynolds, Ms. Allen, Mr. Armitage, Mr. Ganley, Ms. Martens, Mr. Norman, Mrs. Richardson, Ms. Martin and Mrs. Coull created a Brentwood team for Bike to Work Week, an initiative to lower your carbon footprint as well as encourage being active and getting some exercise while getting to work!  This BC wide event had more than 34,000 people participate in order to find joy in commuting to work by bicycle and to reduce the amount of carbon emitting vehicles on the road. The team rode a combined total of 370 kilometres in the week. Every year Mrs. Richardson and BEAT encourages this week in the hope that more teachers will try to bike to school and to encourage a healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyle. We hope many more teachers participate in the years to come! Gina B, Mackenzie ‘17
