Junior Girls Rowing

The Junior Girls had a season filled with improvement. Our first regatta was at Elk Lake, and this was the first for many of the girls. We had some promising results, including a win in the eight. From there, we wanted to improve every day at practice in order to do well throughout the rest of the season. The Maple Bay Regatta was our next chance to show the progress we had made during training. The novice and experienced crews all had fun at this regatta. Although we did not come away with a win, our coaches were happy with the results, and we were all proud of ourselves. At the Brentwood Regatta, early morning practices began for some of us. Then, the fields began to fill with boats and all the junior girls were excited to experience the legendary event. We were ready for a weekend full of races. The first few races showed promising results, but our real test was in the eight. Due to unfortunate weather conditions, our boat filled with water, but we still managed to fight our way across the finish line. We set a goal to improve on our results from the Brentwood Regatta at the Shawnigan Lake Regatta. Our four found success, and managed to come away with a gold medal. All of our novice crews showed improvement this year, and proved how much they had learned. Everyone put her best effort into every race. We would like to thank Mr. Wood and Miss Dick for their patience, and for supporting us through everything.
