Junior A Boys Basketball 1

The 2017-18 season was a thorough year of development for the Junior A Boys Basketball team. At the start of the season, many of the boys were new to the team, and to the expectations of the Brentwood program. After several weeks of practice, we had come together, and our team grew more confident and adapted to each player’s strengths. We managed to finish our league with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses, defeating Cowichan, Gulf Islands and Frances Kelsey, finishing second in our league and qualifying for the Island Championships. Highlights of our exhibition season were placing 3rd at our Brentwood Challenge Tournament, and a strong showing at the ISA championships. The Island Championships are very difficult at the Junior level as we have to play against AAA and AAAA schools from all over the Island. In our final game of the Island Championships we lost to Belmont Secondary by 9 points: Belmont went on to have a top four finish in the Provincials. Our young team has a bright future ahead of them and good luck to the grade 10s who will be joining our senior basketball team next year. Keaton H, Privett ‘20
