West Coast Jazz (and Rock) Festival Results

Brentwood had quite a day at VIU in Nanaimo attending the West Coast Jazz Festival in mid May. In competition was our Beginner Rock Band, Advanced Rock Band, Jazz Band and our vocal group known as “Almost A Cappella”. On top of that we also had two of our Grade 12 musicians, Oliver W and Alexander P performing with the Vancouver Island Grade 12 All Star Combo in a lunch hour concert, directed by Steve Jones. It was a busy day, but the results were great. Our Beginner Rock Band received an Excellent Silver award. Our Advanced Rock Band received a Superior Gold award. Our Jazz Band received an Excellent Silver award. Our “Almost A Cappella” group received a Superior Gold award. In fact their mark was so high that if they had been a university group, they still would have received Gold. That is truly remarkable for a Grade 10 group.
