At the start of the year Mr Patel told the Grade 12s that this school year would go by in a flash; he was absolutely right. It feels like only yesterday that new students arrived on campus, walking wide-eyed into Privett. Yet in this deceptively short amount of time, the boys – no, men – of Privett have banded together in a way no one thought possible. Despite receiving a large measure of new blood, it did not take long for the boys of Privett to start thriving. Privett proved to have a very diverse group of boys, ranging from the uber intelligent Derek Harrison & Ankit Bakshi to the extremely athletic Callum Blake-Currier & Jude Pachiorka. Of even greater significance was the development of the Grade 11s; once seen as unfit to rule, they made tremendous strides towards being next year’s prefects. Over the course of the year, many things changed; classes got more demanding, the weather got ugly, and unfortunately, certain of our house family left the school. Despite all this, one thing remained constant in Privett: our sense of family. Our house is built on three pillars: Trust, Pride, and Brotherhood. It was those virtues, instilled in every boy, that got us through the tough times. While being House Captain was not an easy job, I was not alone. I’d like to thank the prefects, duty staff (Mr Ganley, Mr Branchflower, Mr Burton, Mrs Luna & RFAs Mr Barrett & Ms Bell), and of course, Houseparents Mr Neufeld and Mr Doehler, who made the daunting task of running a house manageable. Since Grade 9, I have walked these Halls of Blue, making memories daily. I’ve seen grad classes go, children (and pets) grow, and strangers become a family. These past four years at Brentwood have been the best of my life, and I have my time in Privett to thank for a lot of that. From every interhouse event to every Big Bros session, Privett has made me into the man I am today, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Finally, to all my brothers, no matter where life takes you, always Bleed Blue! Olamide Olatunbosun, Privett House Captain
