Brentwood International Regatta: 25th – 27th April 2008

1,700 athletes and coaches from British Columbia and the United States are counting off the days until the 38th Brentwood International Regatta is underway on April 25th, 26th and 27th. This is the largest athletic event put on by a single school anywhere. Some statical tidbits: 710 extra students bed down on campus, 169 races are run — every 8 minutes for 23 hours of racing. The crew that travels the farthest: Tempe, Arizona. Crews with the most athletes: Green Lake, Seattle (144) and Brentwood College (129). This year one of Brentwood’s alumni will be honoured with a boat dedication in his name. Malcolm Howard, winner of the Canadian Nationals and on the short list to represent Canada at the upcoming Olympics, will be resent at the boat-naming ceremony. This year also sees the inauguration of the Lady Logan Cup presented to Brentwood for the Regatta by her grandchildren to honour a wonderful mother and grandmother who supported young people in their athletic pursuits understanding that athletic and academic achievements and citizenship are all inextricably linked.
