Grow a Mo, Save a Bro: Brentwood’s Push to Support Men’s Mental Health and Prostate Cancer Research
Movember in the Brentwood community is a time of great joy, great companionship, and not-so-great facial hair. With posterboy Mr Steve Cowie leading the charge, Brentwood racked up one of its highest donation totals for this event to date: just short of one grand.
From the students’ point of view, the real hero was Kenton L, Rogers ‘20 who – although rumoured to have done a little extra pencil shading – pulled off a great stache that put him in the running for “Brentwood’s Best Mo”. Mahir A, Rogers ‘21 also had some award-worthy fur, which his mother may or may not have been very proud of. Mahir, a product of the state of California, and the epitome of the American Dream, went with more of the traditional “Prison Escapee” look, which he achieved spot on. Fair play to Mahir. Another viable candidate was Axel H, Ellis ‘22, who “Got too itchy” only four days in, and called it quits, eliminating himself from the competition.
The man among boys, however, was the recently recruited man-mountain RFA Mr Carter Filion who took the Movember crown with his full-on horseshoe moustache. He man-handled his way to the top of the Brentwood food chain, and glared down upon all the barely-pubescent, scruffy, munchkins below him. Such is the stuff of which rugby coaches are made.
Movember ended with a bang and a buzz last Thursday during assembly as Will M, Whittall ‘21 and Kenton razed off Mr. Patel’s above-average whiskers, leaving Mr Cowie an anachronistic one man show again until November 2020.
A big thank you to all the participants who took part in this event, and to anyone who donated to this cause. Your help does not go unappreciated.
Grow a Mo, save a bro.
