It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas – in Alex House

As Christmas slowly starts to roll around, we realize how different these holidays will be for all of us. This year has impacted each and every one of our lives differently. However, in the end, we should be grateful for what we still have and what we still can do around this time, not only with our families, but also on campus – one of these things being the Christmas traditions in the Houses.

Alex House has been very loyal to its Christmas traditions for many, many years. This year we tried to do as much as we could while also doing this as safely as possible.

We started by decorating the whole house; walking into it now feels like someone hugging you straight away. The warmth that all the decorations have brought into the house are incredible. While we were diligently decorating the house, we had Timbits and hot chocolate.

Our next activity was decorating the doors of Alex. We had 45 minutes to do this, and the feeling of competition rising in the house was truly felt. The doors turned out to look astonishing, and the creativity in our house is fantastic.

Mrs Mais said that many other Christmas traditions had to be switched around and could sadly not be done this year because everything had to be as Covid friendly as possible. “Every year we would go uptown and eat together as a house. Coming back, we would sing in the bus when coming through the Brentwood gates” she said. “The Alex House Christmas Traditions are my favourite part of Christmas at Brentwood“ Lily H said.

The Alex House Christmas traditions are the most fun this time of year and hopefully get carried on by all generations.
