Brentwood Mornings

I open my eyes at 7:00 AM to roll out of bed and into my sweat pants and sandals. As I stand up to open the curtains, I am in awe of the view of the sunrise and the glowing orange sky reflecting its beauty over the ocean. “Waking up with my friends around me makes me so happy,” says Stella C, Hope ‘23. The trees sway in the cold winter wind and I see leaves and pine needles blowing to the ground.

As I sleepily stumble down the stairs, I grab my phone from the previous night’s phone hand in. I push open the front door and a gust of freezing air rushes into my lungs. “I love waking up and feeling the fresh morning breeze on my face,” says Felicity B, Hope ‘23. The sun has risen a little more now and I can see it over the sailboats in the Mill Bay Marina. After signing in at Crooks Hall, I smell the delicious breakfast that has been made for me and my friends. I eat breakfast and go back to my dorm to clean up for daily room inspection. My uniform is on, my teeth are brushed, and I am ready for school!

This is a typical Brentwood morning. Every single Brentwood student knows it so well it is second nature. Brentwood students try to bring their best to each day and work very hard in every class, so they get tired. The staff here at Brentwood knows that and have built sleep-in days into our schedule.

Wednesdays and Saturdays we get to sleep in until 8:00 AM. Sundays even longer. Wednesday mornings in Crooks Hall there is music playing and you can almost feel the joyous energy of the students when they are awake and well-rested. Saturdays are much the same but all the students must clean their rooms extra well so they can pass #1 Inspection. All surfaces are dusted and rooms are vacuumed in the hopes of winning. Yes, there are prizes for having the cleanest room!

Brentwood students are so lucky to be able to enjoy the wonders of ‘Beautiful British Columbia’ every morning.
