Senior Volleyball team off to a promising start
It is the volleyball season once again and our senior girls finished with a bronze this past weekend in the 'B' tier of the prestigious SFU high school tournament. With 56 teams competing, Brentwood finished in the top half of the tournament after a slow start on the first day of round robin play. The team lost their first match against Little Flower Academy 23-25 and 15-25, then lost a tight second match to Burnaby Central 25-14, 22-25 and 13-15. The last round robin match produced a welcome change, a win over Walnut Grove 18-25, 25-15, and 15-13. The girls seemed to settle down on day 2 with solid victories over Pacific Academy 25-19, 25-22 and Fraser Heights 22-25, 25-16, 17-15, but then lost a tight match to a feisty Fraser Valley Christian School 25-22, 10-25 and 9-15. The final game in the tournament was a straight set win over Killarney 25-16, 25-19 to win the bronze. It was an exciting start for this young team that had some great performances from Indre Semogas, Krista Fenniak and Shelby Michaels. Next up for the team is the UBC High school tournament next weekend.
