Dress Up Turned Identity Theft

There may be a few things that the Brentwood Grads of 2021 are missing this year, like cookie break, open houses, and competitive sports, but kindness is certainly not one of them.

As a part of our annual Kindness Week festivities, the Grad Council, led by President Jocelyn P, Alex ‘21 and VP Abi S, Alex ‘21 announced that they would be “Kicking it up a notch” this year by having a Student/Staff Twin Day, which Jocelyn admitted was partly because she “just really wanted to twin with Mr McPherson for the day!”

All of our grads, whether they have been attending Brentwood for their entire high school career, or arrived here for the first time in September, have developed quite the rapport with staff members throughout the school, which was clearly demonstrated by the number of dress shirts, lab coats, aprons, house hoodies, and even rugby jerseys seen around campus on February 19th.

With grad pictures and university acceptances rolling in fast, we are readily preparing for the next chapter of our lives, but still hugely valued this opportunity to express our gratitude to the many staff members who have acted as parental figures, mentors, and friends throughout our Brentwood journey. As Solveig C, Allard ‘21 jokes, to demonstrate “That’s not how we want to turn out!”

Brentwood’s tight-knit community often feels like more of a family than simply a place of learning, and the friendships between staff and students frequently continue long after graduation. We are proud to be a school that nurtures these connections which allowed for this lighthearted and visually entertaining dress-up day to be such a success!

Above all else, it was heartwarming to see how many students flocked to their favourite staff members, like the hoard of Rogers 12s who transformed into Mr Warner doppelgangers, and the friendly jokes, digs, and memories shared between them.

On this day it is safe to say, the student really did become the teacher.
