The Last First Day – Sept. 25, 2021

The new and dedicated student leaders, the Grade 12s, the Grad Class of 2022. These 144 students are all well on their way to a fantastic final year. We started off strong by welcoming the new and returning students with open hearts and positivity radiating all over campus.

We have now been on campus for a few weeks which means academics are getting more difficult every day, Prefect roles are in place, and dare I say it, university applications are on our to-do list.

To add a little bit of childhood back onto campus, the Grad Council worked hard to organize the first dress up day of the year, Kindergarten Day. To say the least, it was a huge hit. Steven G, Rogers ‘22, described the day as being “nostalgic because it reminded me of the days when the most mundane things were the most exciting things and we were all so innocent and easy going.”

At lunch break, Grads met in McNeill’s Cafe to capture our outfits as a class dressed like schoolgirls and schoolboys. Rounding up all the 12s was a tricky task and compared quite accurately to trying to get a picture of a group of impatient, hyper kindergarten students. Once everyone was almost ready for the click of the camera, Reese VO ‘22 yelled “We’re supposed to dress like kindergarteners, not act like them” which settled the crowd quickly.

Mr Sullivan thinks the Kindergarten Day had “good participation and was very well done, but it is important to remember that with every dress up day, we are trying to have maximum participation.” This idea gives our class something to work towards this year to ensure every student is having some fun on these dress-up days.
