Senior Boys Basketball Bests BC

It has been quite the start to the new year for Brentwood’s Senior Boys Basketball team. A victory over #1 ranked team Lambrick Park on January 7th saw the boys take over the top spot in BC’s Double A division. This game was a barnburner from start to finish as Brentwood was able to maintain their lead from the game’s opening quarter, ultimately coming out with a 90-85 win.

Since then, the boys have done nothing but solidify their position as British Columbia’s top dogs with blowout victories over Quad A schools NDSS the following day and Vanier on January 13th. The 100-64 triumph over NDSS saw a breakout performance from Jayden L, Ellis ‘23 and another thirty plus point performance from Dylan G, Whittall ‘23 who is having an unbelievable season thus far.

Victory over Vanier saw the basketball season’s first ever game to be live streamed. The final scoreline read 69-43 in Brentwood’s favor but was a very up and down affair between the two teams. This game saw a very balanced scoring effort take place for the homeside with Dylan, G once again leading the way with a 23 point effort and Liam F, Ellis ‘22 making his presence felt on the defensive end.

Another massive win for the varsity boys took place this past Wednesday away to Quad A Claremont. The final score finished 83-80 in Brentwood’s favor and saw Milan P, Privett ‘24 score a career high 34 points in the process. Assistant coach and Milan’s father Mr. Pasquale says that “It has been enjoyable to watch him begin to reach his potential. This comes with the understanding that I know his IQ on the game and his skill set. So, in essence, what has impressed me is his change to be aggressive and assertive.”

Nathan O, Privett ‘22 thinks “Our season has gone very well thus far. I’m impressed with the culture of our team and it’s great to see that everyone knows their role and executes to the best of their abilities. We all have learnt to accept constructive criticism which will be crucial when it comes time for Provincials.”
