Piano Highlights with Megan C

Megan C’s recent participation in the piano section of the Cowichan Music Festival resulted in the receipt of an award in the form of a bursary supplied by the Municipality of North Cowichan and an invitation to participate in the Festival’s highlights concert which took place at the Cowichan Center for Performing Arts.

She joins a number of former Brentwood students, notably Vivian Fang, Ywen Cai and Ankit Bakshi, who also excelled themselves in the Festival.

Megan’s achievement is particularly noteworthy as she, a very busy Grade 9 student, found the time, energy and motivation to prepare and perform three selections, from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) level 9 repertoire list, to a very high standard: that is a prerequisite for consideration for awards and participation in showcase concerts.

It has been a great pleasure to work with Megan on a weekly basis. She is making rapid progress in terms of both technical proficiency and artistic acumen such that she can look forward to becoming a confident, competent, self-reliant musician for all of her days.

Megan is preparing to take the RCM level 9 exam and will be participating in the Greater Victoria Festival of the Performing Arts in April.
