In the midst of the brisk early fall rain, determined Brentwood rowers are poised to demonstrate their unyielding ambition, undeterred by the cold and damp conditions. The Head of The Charles Regatta – an eminent event in the world of rowing, recognized as the largest three-day regatta globally – sparkles on the near horizon. With an impressive roster of over 11,000 global athletes converging on Boston, the Brentwood rowers are diligently investing their efforts to showcase their prowess at the long, serpentine, exhilarating, and tortuous race scheduled for October 21st and 22nd.

The Senior Girls 8+ – epitomizing their unwavering dedication and hard work – is gearing up to dispatch their crew to Boston. These girls are fully prepared to face fierce competition during the race on the morning of Saturday, October 21. “Sometimes, the desire to stay in bed is strong, but it’s the pressure and camaraderie within the team that propels us forward,” remarks coxswain Annika M, Alex ‘24. The team consistently supports one another, paving the way to their success, which will be prominently displayed at the HOC Regatta.

As the global competition countdown commences, we have eagerly anticipated this moment for months, meticulously preparing in every conceivable way. The Senior Boys 8+ also eagerly anticipates the opportunity to showcase the tremendous effort they’ve invested over the past few months, evident in their dedicated training and preparation. The boys are ready to bring honor to Brentwood, with their race set for Sunday, October 22.

Through continuous practice, the Brentwood rowers have diligently focused on building a solid cardio foundation that will propel them across The Head of Charles finish line during the weekend. “Persisting through early morning practices and late nights, the Brentwood rowers have maintained their motivation,” states a crucial member of the HOCR Girl’s 8+, bow Marin A, Alex ‘24. Although the race presents a formidable challenge – a demanding 3-mile course with six spectator-packed bridges and four challenging turns – including a hairpin corner an exhausting 2.5 miles into the race – the Brentwood rowers are prepared to face it head-on.
