Ms Spencer Manton: Brentwood’s Sporting Dynamo
Born and raised on the Island, Ms Manton plays a pivotal role in enhancing the vibrancy of Brentwood. From the basketball court and the volleyball court to the Brentwood waters, her coaching has undeniably pushed Brentwood students to foster the same competitive mindset she has.
Ms Manton has inspired me, as a Brentwood rower, in ways that I never thought possible, pushing me beyond limits I hadn’t seen within myself before. The mindset has not only pushed me to succeed but also infuses energy throughout the entire rowing team, creating an environment everyone loves to be a part of. Rowan V, Hope ‘25 expressed that “Ms Manton’s grit is far beyond what I have ever seen before in a coach. Her extreme passion for sport is undeniably the best part of the team atmosphere”. As a novice rower, Elena F, Hope ‘25, resonates with Rowan’s perspective on Ms Manton dubbing her as the “best supporter of my success”. Mr Sean Hacker Teper, assistant coach to the Women’s Rowing Team says he enjoys Ms Manton’s attitude and “loves the humour and life she brings to such a hard sport”.
Although her dedication shines prominently in rowing, her fervour for the other sports she coaches is so intense that it surpasses the expectations of any coach. Ella W, Mack ’25, a valuable member of the Senior A Girl’s Volleyball team, appreciates having a dose of Ms Manton’s intensity in her fall competitive term. Ella notes that “Ms Manton is like a coach that everyone wants on their team, with each moment spent with her bringing out my inner athletic beast”. Ms Manton excels in fostering drive across various areas, be it on the volleyball court, in the coach boat, or helping girls in Mack House with her dogs Jet and Kiki.
We are immensely grateful for you, Ms Manton, and everything you bring!
Isabel H, Mack ‘25
