On September 3rd, the blazing sun welcomed almost two hundred new Brentwood students and family members alike. The vibrant green grass of Gillespie Field was filled with vehicles transporting these eager new students onto campus for their first day of Orientation. Orientation, as always, was scheduled to the hour with opportunities to meet new people around every corner.

With our welcoming ‘24-’25 Student Executive Council (SEC) on campus as well as our incredible volunteer Orientation Assistants, our Brentwood family could not be more excited to greet every new member of our family. SEC members shared similar sentiments about the year with Assistant Athletics Prefect Ruby M, Allard ‘25 saying that Orientation was “a great experience for new and returning students that gave everyone a chance to embrace the start of the new school year”. Additionally, Head Prefect Matson W, Privett ‘25 added “It was a very positive experience that allowed the new students to acclimate well to student life here at Brentwood”. The Brentwood community united to share a great few days in beautiful Mill Bay, British Columbia before the official first day of classes.

But it’s not just the big events that matter, Stella P, Alexandra ‘25, Assistant Academics Prefect noted that “Helping new students settle into their dorms was a great bonding experience in addition to the always eventful Fun & Games”. With over one hundred new students, the campus was already bustling as both nervous and excited students hurried around campus bonding over meals, completing swim tests, and getting a taste of life at Brentwood.

Orientation included an introduction to Brentwood’s first-term competitive sports. Soccer, field hockey, and volleyball were played to their fullest extent as new students connected over the love of a game or the excitement of trying something new.

Of course, Fun & Games was just around the corner, allowing new students to compete in high-speed musical chairs, intense Simon-Says, the infamous Huckbuckle, and so much more; this taste of competition and house bonding would set the tone for Eco-Challenge ‘25 which was approaching quickly.

As returning students made their way back to campus, Brentwood started to feel even busier. The collective excitement of the student body fostered a joyous atmosphere on campus as our Brentwood family was reunited.
