Setting Up For Greatness
While Brentwood offers multiple competitive sports in Term 2, Volleyball Skills offers amazing opportunities to athletes of any skill. With athletes ranging from beginner to advanced, experienced coaches provide helpful critiques and hands-on demonstrations to all participants in the hopes of developing their skills even further.
The course starts with the fundamentals: refined passing, controlled setting, explosive serving, and strategic attacking. While competitive teams focus on tournaments and playoffs, Volleyball Skills allows experienced coaches to work with athletes one-on-one and build proper technique from the ground up! Liv H, Mack ‘27, shares: “I had a great time competing on the Junior A team first term, and Volleyball Skills gives me a chance to play and improve even more!” However, skill-building opportunities like Volleyball Skills do more than improve athletic ability; they build confidence and foster healthy competition in a low-stakes setting, which allows athletes to grow and prepare for any volleyball goals they have.
Irene T, Mack ‘27 enthusiastically comments, “It’s great to have the opportunity to continue to play and improve after our competitive season has ended!” Unlike Term 2 competitive sports, A-level Volleyball Teams are immediately welcomed back to school with intense practices and a jam-packed tournament schedule – like they are Olympians training for the gold without a moment of rest.
Fortunately, Term 2 Volleyball Skills works to further athletes’ development beyond the competitive season to prepare for next year; beyond that, Volleyball Skills is the prime opportunity to build connections and confidence within the volleyball community at Brentwood.
