Egg-citing Easter Adventures at Brentwood!

While most Brentwood students headed home for Easter break, a small but cheerful group stayed behind to enjoy a quieter – but still lively – campus. With fewer people around, we took the opportunity to relax, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy spontaneous activities like swimming, spikeball, and trips uptown. The break offered a refreshing change of pace and a chance to bond with others who also called Brentwood home for the holidays.

Oun A, Ellis ‘25, shared that although the break was short, it gave him much-needed time to unwind. “Easter Break was awesome overall. Although I couldn’t go home, I was able to sharpen my tennis skills and get some well-needed rest without having to travel.” For Oun, staying on campus proved both restful and productive, blending downtime with personal growth.

Tomasso P, Ellis ‘25, echoed this sentiment: “I feel this break allowed me to meet so many new faces, make new connections, and become much closer with those I already knew. I can’t wait for more spikeball in the beautiful spring weather.”

Though only four days long, students made the most of every moment. Whether taking a well-deserved nap, getting ahead on schoolwork, or enjoying games of spikeball and swims in the bay, we returned recharged and ready to seize the final stretch of Term 3.

Former Ellis Assistant Houseparent, Mr. Cowie, reflected on past Easter Breaks fondly: “I remember when my family would gather together, have egg hunts, and enjoy each other’s presence. I’d watch and play rugby games – it was always a nice, restful time.” His words serve as a reminder that breaks, even at school, can carry the same warmth and comfort as those spent at home.

A huge thank you goes to Brentwood and everyone who made the break possible. To those who stayed behind, we made the most of our time – creating memories, deepening friendships, and enjoying the simplicity of a calm campus. Special thanks to Ms Allen, Mr Chalmers, and Mr Sullivan for running sign-ins morning to night, Mr Wismer for always being on standby, and the entire support team – from food services to security – for keeping things running smoothly.

Breaks like these are a reminder that happiness doesn’t always come from grand adventures. Sometimes, it’s the simplest moments – a shared laugh, the warmth of the sun, or a quiet afternoon spent with friends – that offer the most lasting joy, much like the timeless idea of finding peace in the small, everyday experiences of life.
