Connections: The Art of Being

At the end of April, thousands of people marched onto campus while students frantically jolted to their Regatta jobs and races continuously drew crowds and chaos. It didn’t ever seem to slow down.

But there was beauty and calm in at least one location.

The 53nd annual Brentwood Regatta is now in the readview mirror and amongst all of the crazy, we were still able to showcase the tripartite program in true Brentwood fashion with the Connections: The Art of Being.

This art show exhibited Brentwood’s array of art courses like 3D and Handbuilt Pottery, Drawing and Painting, Arts Foundations, Woodworking and Photography.

The voluminous creativity captured in our newest art show is undeniable when walking through the breathtaking Arts buildings. Innovation and individuality are flaunted in the building, whether it’s the painted egg collection, the Handbuilt Pottery grotesque masks hung from the ceiling, the interhouse flag interpretations, or the majestic wooden frames as you enter the lobby. 3D Pottery’s Captain Max K, Rogers ‘25, proclaims, “This year’s Regatta show perfectly displays the variety in arts as every visual art is showcased in its unique way.”

Handbuilt Pottery teacher Mr Burgess remarks, “The show ran very smoothly thanks to the tremendous efforts and contributions of all the Arts.” The show offered a quiet and calm area away from all the Regatta pandemonium and called for a break to appreciate fine arts and student work. Sophie A, Alexandra ‘25 adds, “As someone who has danced all my years at Brentwood, it’s always amazing to get to see the work of all the other arts.”

A huge thank you to all of the Brentwood Arts faculty for putting together a smooth and outstanding Regatta Art show that exhibited all the talent of Brentwood’s student artists. And the biggest thank you goes out to Ms Widenmaier for all of her efforts organizing this flawless event.
