The Class of ‘25 Says Goodbye

The mellow sun covers every crevice of our campus, and instantly serotonin levels boost as we spend our spare time outside and enjoy what’s left of the rest of the school year.

Grade 9s are eager to move up a grade and no longer be the youngest in the school, the Grade 10s are nervous for the supposedly-most-difficult year in high school awaiting them, the Grade 11s are excited for the chance to finally be the oldest and lead the school, but what about the Grade 12s?

As we reach the end of the year, a certain feeling hangs over the Grad Class of 2025.

Is it possibly excitement for the endless possibilities awaiting them in their futures, the sadness of leaving a place we all call home, or maybe they are wistful, longing for this to not be over so soon?

Last week the Grade 12s got to take part in Grad Spirit Week beginning with a field day full of water fights and reminiscing. On Monday students wore merch from the university they will be attending next fall. Tuesday was Pajama Day and the beginning of our Grad Assassins – getting to pin a clothes peg on fellow Grad Class members until a final person is standing. Wednesday was Adam Sandler Dress Up Day. And for the last day, we wore white shirts for everyone to sign.

Brett H, Rogers ‘25 remarks, “My favorite dress up day was Adam Sandler because seeing everyone go to class super underdressed is such a big change from the uniforms we all see.” Portia C, Hope ‘25 adds, “Thursday was my favorite day because we didn’t have to wear our #1s and everyone got to sign each other’s shirts which was quite wholesome.”

The biggest thank you goes out to the people who have made our Grad Year the most special: Ms Ramsay and the Grad Council. They have put hours into making each Grad event run seamlessly and make it a moment where we can all truly bond with the people who have gotten us so far.

Although teachers and houseparents do so much for us in our journeys, I believe that at the heart of how we made it so far are the bonds and the relationships that have been created in the Grad Class. Being with each other for so many years, seeing our Grade 9 selves turn into strong and brave adults ready to change our society is truly one of the most special experiences. Although the Brentwood journey of Grad ‘25 will soon be over, the link that ties us together will never be forgotten and will soon turn into sharing new stories at our 10 year alumni event.
