Showcase Hockey: Highlighting School Pride!
Saturday, January 24th, marked one of the most exciting nights of Brentwood’s winter sports season: Showcase Hockey! Following a week of spirited preparations and school-wide enthusiasm, the hockey teams hit the ice with unstoppable energy, backed by an arena full of support and pride.
“The atmosphere was electric, you could feel it from the moment you stepped into Kerry Park,” comments Lila C, Hope ‘26. The girls’ hockey team opened the night with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Shawnigan Lake School. Their incredible resilience and teamwork kept everyone on their feet. Yuma and Caden played with insane determination and speed, the Brentwood fans shared.
As the crowd grew, so did the excitement, especially around the popular Duck Toss booth. Ms. Ramsay and Joey E, Ellis ’27, kept the energy high, selling ducks with personalities as unique as their buyers. “It’s hilarious seeing everyone pick the one that looks like them,” Joey laughed.
Then came the boys’ game, full of intense moments, booming chants, and bursts of students slapping the hockey rink glass. As colourful posters waved and students cheered, the arena echoed with community spirit. Captain Daimon G, Ellis ‘26 reflects, “It was a heated game, and I’m so proud of the whole team.” Each play and goal brought the crowd to life, acknowledging not only the talent on the ice but the shared pride that defines Showcase Hockey. When the team scored a goal in overtime, it was safe to say the celebration brought us all together with overwhelming happiness.
A heartfelt thank-you goes to every staff member, student, and supporter who helped make Showcase Hockey 2026 such a memorable success. By the end of the night, one thing was clear: this was more than just a game; it was a moment to celebrate everything that makes Brentwood’s hockey season truly special. As Ms Ramsay says, “Events like this remind us just how strong our Brentwood community is.”
