An Overview of Academic Tutoring
At Brentwood, academic learning extends beyond formal classroom study. A number of part-time tutors are employed by the school–each one typically specializing in topics and learning challenges. Tutoring is also provided by our academic faculty who assist individual students in the afternoons. Our unique schedule allows students to attend formal classes in the morning while having more flexible study options in the afternoons when not participating in sports or Fine Arts programs. With 60% of our academic faculty living on campus, each student also has the opportunity to consult with their teachers in the hour before and during prep. For more informal instruction, peer tutoring is also provided, occasionally in the native language of the student. Being able to ask for extra help as needed is a fundamental part of the Brentwood education.
