Junior Boys’ Soccer Strikes Again

Junior Boys’ Soccer Strikes Again

Since the start of this fall, the Junior Boys Soccer program has shown determination, hard work, and ambition. We bring intense energy and drive that set us apart. In September, we took our skills to Salt Spring for our first game. We showed teamwork and determination, defeating the Scorpions 6-0.

Soon after, both the A and B teams hosted ISAs at Brentwood, driven by an overwhelming desire to win. As a student watching the game, Hudson VT, Ellis ‘29 says the game was “hard-fought; super fun to watch”. The A team won the first two games to earn a spot in the final, while the Junior B boys fought hard for 8th place in a stacked tournament.

In the gold-medal game, the Junior A team led off in the first half 1-0 before, unfortunately, losing 2-1 and receiving silver in the tournament.  Both teams showed hard work, passion, and determination, as well as good sportsmanship, as we “played the Brentwood game,” as Coach Barrett observed, which we all love to see and cheer for. All in all, both teams put on a show for the Brentwood audience and anyone else who wanted to join in.

Last Friday, for some inspiration, we took a bus to see UVic and UBCO play. We learned a lot from that game, and we also saw Brentwood alumni Jack Napier-Ganley, Ellis ‘21 and Wesley Jones, Whittall ‘23, who contributed to all three goals scored. The final score was 3-0 for UVic, with Jack assisting on the game-winner and Wes coming on as a fresh-legs substitute to score the second and third.

This Saturday, the Junior A team will take their skills and determination to face Shawnigan and represent the school with Brentwood’s characteristic grit and joy. To close the season, the boys will head to Islands in early November.

Brentwood on three!
