Brentwood alumni Ruben Steingard ’12 and Jan Bernhard ’13 are priming European waters for fellow Brentwood rowers Dave Calder, ‘96, Scott Frandsen ’98 and Malcolm Howard ’01 at the German National Team trials this week. And they’re getting off on the right foot!

Ruben, who set a course record at the Head of the Charles in October, 2010 with Martin Barakso ’12 in the double, has established himself as the fastest Under 23 German single. Jan, who stroked the Brentwood Varsity 8+ and 4x (see photo) to silver medals at the CCSRA regatta earlier this month, won the Under 19 pair.

These two Brentwood alumni will be continuing the selection process for the German national team for the World Rowing Championships in Blovdiv, Bulgaria in August.
