In this day and age there is no room for ignorance when it comes to the environment and this is why Brentwood College prides itself on being an eco-friendly school.

With an incredible recycling and waste disposal system, along with a student leadership group, the Brentwood Environmental Action Team (BEAT), Brentwood is environmentally aware. Our very own Crooks Hall has been recognized as “one of the smartest buildings” in North America and is certified LEEDs Gold.

With almost 4000 people visiting the Brentwood Regatta in three days, most would worry of an intense negative impact on the waste system.

Not the BEAT Green Team!

With helping hands from the local community and a local Scout group, the BEAT Green Team has organized a system with a goal to put on a zero-waste event.

Now that’s impressive.   

Scattered around campus are guidelines laid out amongst bins, urging visitors to sort their trash into the appropriate containers of refundables, recyclables, compostables and garbage.

“Green Stars” will be awarded to vendors and stalls that meet the expectations of the BEAT Green Team. A 3 Star Certificate will be awarded to vendors who generate no waste at all.  

Finally, to ensure that everybody on campus is being “green”, volunteers including students, staff and community members are to be seen cleaning up and educating visitors on how to properly sort their waste.
