Despite dragging ourselves awake at 4am in Mill Bay to fly to Toronto, the evening’s Showcase Concert at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music’s Macmillan Concert Hall made everyone sit up and pay attention. Every member of the faculty and student Big Band was a virtuoso. Jun Ha, Sade, Liam, Juan – all the members of our Jazz Band were in awe. In a tribute concert to the King of Canadian Jazz, Phil Nimmons, the hall rocked with the enthusiastic response. We have great expectations for the week. Our hotel is fine and has, at last count, 17 restaurants within a one block radius. Life in the big city. Off to Niagara Falls tomorrow. Mrs. Edna Widenmaier, Director of Arts
