Every year, rain or shine, the Brentwood community comes together for one of the most anticipated weekends – the Brentwood International Rowing Regatta. Under sunny skies and brisk winds this year, crews battled through timed heat races and choppy, challenging waters with grit and joy.

The Royal Henley Regatta of the Pacific Northwest, the Brentwood Regatta stands as a timeless testament to athletic excellence, school spirit, and international camaraderie.

The Regatta drew teams from around the globe, with competitors from nearby Victoria to as far away as New Zealand, all eager to experience the energy and spirit of Brentwood’s iconic event. “It was an awesome chance to race some fast crews from all over,” Finn D, Whittall ‘25, shared as he reflected on a successful weekend, securing impressive wins in both the U19 Men’s 8+ and U19 Men’s 2-. With many race opportunities, Brentwood’s crew got to immerse themselves in multiple race categories, most athletes trying something new, ultimately encouraging growth towards becoming more well-rounded rowers. Chloé D, Alexandra ‘26, noted, “The Regatta provided ample racing experience!” She relayed a common sentiment of all of us rowers as we gear up for Nationals in June!

Regatta Olanner, Coach, and Olympian, Ms Jessica Sevick shared, “The Brentwood Regatta was a tremendous success – welcoming so many visiting teams, showcasing our stunning new CIL, and creating a vibrant atmosphere with Food Booth Alley and unforgettable performances. Despite weather delays, we ran nearly all the races and had an incredible weekend. All of the Brentwood crews raced with heart and determination, making us incredibly proud. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff and students whose hard work made it all possible!”

Ms Sevick echoes athletes’ gratitude, as we appreciate the cohesion of all staff and students, in completing all the jobs necessary to pull off this remarkable event. Thank you to everyone for their efforts, as the event was truly something special!

As a Grade 12 in the Senior Women’s program, my last Brentwood Regatta was so special, as it marked the culmination of years of hard work, early mornings, and unforgettable memories with my teammates. Being part of the event one last time reminded me how lucky I’ve been to grow within such a supportive and dedicated community!
