In early October Brentwood’s 23 Art Captains met to discuss the exciting plans for this year’s arts program. Led by Pascale B, we collaborated on various new initiatives that will help bring this program into the spotlight during the 2014 school year. Various opportunities for young artists to showcase their talents were suggested including incorporating arts into assemblies more and encouraging students to apply for Dogwood Scholarships. Mrs. Edna Widenmaier, Director of Arts brought outstanding ideas to the table that will help us achieve our goals for the year. As she said, “the mission is to celebrate and promote Brentwood Arts students and programmes, both on campus and globally.” To kick off the art-filled year ahead, we have organized a new artistic Interhouse event. Each of the eight houses will be assigned one of the pillars in Crooks Hall as its project. On November 20th, two canvas pieces, one junior and one senior, will be unveiled, submitted, and critiqued by a panel of judges including our Head of School, Mr. Bud Patel.
